Recyclage
REVATECH recycles 50,000 tonnes of mineral materials per year: mainly non-ferrous metals. The recycling is focussed around hydrometallurgical processing which, through different processing, enables ...

Elimination
Going back into the mists of time, or 1976 to be precise, disposal was at the very origin of the company's activities. It is based on two main activities: physical/chemical waste processing and stabilisation.

Procédés de traitement des piles
Since 1996, REVATECH has been running an evolutionary process for recycling alkaline and saline batteries. REVATECH thus recycles 4,500 tonnes of batteries from Belgium but also from other European countries.

APPROVALS

REVATECH's activities are governed by permits and approvals (operational, environmental, and industrial water discharge permits, etc.) issued by the various relevant authorities (local, regional, federal or national). We hold permits and approvals that are valid until 2033 for our Liège-Monsin installation and 2022 for the Engis installation. These are registered and can be found on the authorities' websites.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT (R&D)

REVATECH devotes considerable resources to its R&D activities, having two chemical engineers and investing €450k annually:

  • we continue to carry out tests on recycling primary Li batteries. The laboratory stage has been completed with and our aim is to implement an industrial pilot scheme which should allow us to sign off on the industrial equipment that will enable us to recycle 500 metric tons of primary Li batteries per year;
  • laboratory testing we have carried out, should enable us to treat detergents containing oxidants, on an industrial scale;
  • working within the framework of a European programme (CARSIFER) on the possibilities of producing and marketing briquettes made from industrial waste; this should enable the use of raw materials in foundries to be replaced by these briquettes.
